Hardeman County is a county located in the U.S. state of Tennessee. It is named for Thomas Jones Hardeman (1788-1854), a Creek War and War of 1812 veteran and prominent figure in the fight for Texas independence, and a Republic of Texas congressman.〔 The county is the location of two of Tennessee's three private prisons, the Whiteville Correctional Facility and the Hardeman County Correctional Center.
